Today you are going to focus on everything you have, not what you don’t have. This ties into being grateful, but let’s not go that far today. Let’s just think about all the things we have in our life no matter how trivial they may seem.

Before you go to bed, write down all the things you thought about during the day – all the things you have (health, a roof over your head, food, etc). Become aware that you have much to be grateful for (hold off on being grateful …one day at a time)

Day #2. Gratitude

Today is the day to go over the list you made yesterday and realize how grateful you are to have all these things. You probably have a pretty big list. If you have any moments today when you are wanting “more,” pull out the list you made yesterday and smile.

The problem with “wanting more” and “getting more” is this: You will never get more until you can prove to the Universe that you can handle what you already have. Gratitude will tell the Universe you can handle everything that has been given to you and you can handle more!

Day #3. Don’t Try So Hard

In the metaphysical world we live in, trying “too hard” is referred to as “resisting.” Resisting causes frustration. In this state (or frequency of vibration) you have absolutely no power. Relax. Today, you are going to surrender to your higher power.

You are not in control. It is ok not to be in control. It is ok not to have all the answers. Today, you are going to repeat this to yourself: “I am not in control.” Surrendering will allow your frequency to rise and opportunities to attract themselves to you.

Keep in mind, the harder you try to force things in your life into the place, the more difficult they will become.

Day #4. Stop Thinking “Things Never Go My Way.”

Today, you are going to repeat, “Things always go my way.” Whenever you think you are unlucky or that things don’t go your way – they are more likely to not go your way.

The same is true if you tell yourself that you are the luckiest person in the world and everything always goes your way! It takes the same amount of energy to think in an optimistic state than a negative one.
You get “that which you focus upon.” Will you be focusing on the fact that everything always goes your way or the fact that you are the unluckiest person in the world? Today, that choice is clear!

Don’t think I am talking just about judging others, (an unhealthy behavior – you should be concerned about yourself, not other people) I am also talking about judging situations. All too often we “play out in our heads” what a situation is going to yield. We think we have it all figured out. This might include:

  • What someone is going to say
  • What someone is going to do
  • What will happen if…
  • etc.

Today, zero out all the “hypotheticals” that pop in your head (we all do it). Hypotheticals are not real and rarely does the “worst-case scenario” play out.

Focus on being present. The only thing that matters today is what is happening at the very moment. If you see a rainbow, think about its beauty! Smell a flower. What “might or might not happen” is of no concern of yours…not today!

How are you doing?

How are the 14 Days And Ways to Happiness Challenge coming along? If you need an extra push… We have it! We are here to inspire and motivate you the entire way.

Empowerment to the rescue. The only thought in your mind today is how deserving you are to have greatness in your life. Today, you aren’t going be thinking about all the mistakes you’ve made in life (you should be grateful for your mistakes, they made you who you are today).

Today, all you are going to tell the Universe is that you are worthy and deserving of all good things coming your way. This is an incredible day. On this day, you will be letting the Universe know you are ready to receive that which belongs to you: A life of greatness!

Day #7. Make the Choice

Happiness is a choice. Today, despite what life or other people throw at you, you are going to smile about it. Here’s the deal, smiling about it or getting upset about it (whatever it may be) isn’t going to change what happened. What happens to us is out of our control.

However, we have complete control over how we are going to respond. Today, you are going to make a choice…a positive one.

If something happens today and you can’t “muster a smile” out of it,” please reach out to me. I’m here for you. Hopefully, you can push through this day and realize just how incredible choosing happiness can be.

Day #8 Not Being Hard On Yourself

We all tend to be harder on ourselves than we do other people. This is normal (you are not alone). Today, this is unacceptable. Today you will teach yourself that it is ok not to be perfect or “have it all together.” Today, you will begin to understand and accept your humanity.

It is important that you don’t put yourself down, that’s the lesson for today:

  • If you forget something, for example, It isn’t because you are forgetful, it’s because you are human  and sometimes humans forget things.
    • If you lose something: It isn’t because you are “scatterbrained and always lose stuff,” it’s because     you are human and sometimes humans misplace things.

Be kind to yourself today. You are only human.

I had a conversation about this one day with a friend of mine. My friend disagreed with me, “we need to take responsibility for everything in our lives,” he said. Even our mistakes. Taking responsibility for our mistakes and accepting our capabilities (we are not robots with photographic memories for example) are two different conversations.

I’m not talking about not taking responsibility for your mistakes, I am talking about being nice to yourself about them. People make mistakes. Understand that you are a person.

Day #9. Stop Thinking When “XYZ happens”, You’ll Be Happy!

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’ll be happy when (fill in the blank).” Sure, you have! Not today you don’t. Today, you say, “I’m happy right now.”

XYZ might never happen. What a travesty to go your entire life unhappy waiting for a certain event to occur. Today, you are going to absorb the understanding that a “specific event is only a moment in time.” The journey you are on right now is your life. It is paramount to your happiness and greatness that you are happy right where you are.

Don’t confuse this with “wanting more.” It’s ok to want more (except on day #2). It’s not ok to want more at the expense of your happiness. You’ve already passed day #2, so you should have a grip on this. If you don’t, go back and repeat day #2.

Day #10 You Are the Company That You Keep

Are you hanging around people that aren’t happy? People that complain all the time or put you down? Not today you aren’t. Today, you are going to seek out only people that lift you. If there is anyone in your tribe that is pulling you down, today they go…

Perhaps you need to “tweak your tribe?” You can’t be happy hanging around unhappy people. Be aware of this and make this change if necessary…. today!

Day #11 Exercise

Exercise has been proven to have health benefits (and release endorphins into our bloodstream which makes us feel good). Which, guess what makes us feel good (happier)!

Today, you are going to go for a long walk. If you can jog a little bit, (get your heart rate up) do so. Please consult with your physician before starting an exercise routine. You should be healthy enough to go for a long walk at least. Today, go for that walk.

Implement walking or more if you are able and fit enough to do so into your life. It will only take exercising one time to “feel the rush” of happiness come over you. It’s addicting (and it’s free and good for you too). How could you possibly not be happy about that?

Day #12 No Vices Day

Vices: Alcohol, tobacco, etc. release serotonin into our bloodstream (they make us feel good). The problem is, we only have limited supply serotonin. Our body needs time to make more., When we deplete it…we don’t have what we need to signal our brains to feel pleasure.

Have you ever gone for a long time without eating? When you finally eat, it feels good doesn’t it? If you eat all the time, you don’t get that feeling (because you already used up your supply of serotonin).

Vices use up your bodies natural ability to be happy (or feel good) on its own. Today, you are not going to let that happen!

Day # 13 Compliment Others All Day

Today, every other word out of your mouth is going to be used to compliment someone else. Complimenting others makes them feel good. When they feel good, they will smile (guess what, we will absorb that smile every time). Tonight, you will go to bed with a smile on your face knowing you put a smile on every else’s face

Day #14 Do A Good Deed (but don’t tell anybody)

Today, be a secret saint. Do something nice for someone (maybe even a stranger) and keep it to yourself. The feeling is incredible. When you do something nice for someone, you will want to share it with the world, because it feels good! It feels even more incredible when you keep it to yourself. Try it!

I like your method! I am trying to live in the moment and really focusing on the concept of being present and allowing myself to be happy. However, I think I try to do too much at once. Your day by day challenge breaks it down and makes it feel very achievable.

I have been so stressed and so grumpy lately! This is exactly the challenge I need. Going through the list, I can already see many areas in which I need serious improvement.

This is great !! I’ll save that and do it ! (I was almost going to say I’ll try, but no I will do it !). I don’t want to read it all now and just discover the program day after day. So today I will focus on what I have.

We are what we think about most of the time. So, it stands to reason that we should think about good things most of the time, no? Things that we desire. Instead, we let our mind wander to all sorts of dark places, to things we don’t have, to bad experiences that may never happen in reality. That’s why we need to guard our minds and as soon as we see ourselves going down the rabbit hole, we should immediately shift focus to what we have and what we want. And this will make us happier.

I am going to give this a shot. I will start on Sunday so I have a full two even weeks. I am going to make some notes from what you wrote here and make sure to stick to it. I have been having such a hard year. It feels as if everything is at a slow drag and nothing is getting done. Not to mention, my site took a major traffic hit this year so earnings are down for me. I need to be more grateful. Fantastic read and idea. I will report back after 14 days!
