Obstacles

You can avoid obstacles in life by sitting on your couch and not chasing your dreams – Problem Solved! (we solve problems around here)

However, avoiding obstacles comes with a price – the price of regret. Is avoiding challenging situations in your life worth the price of not fulfilling your destiny?

No – of course not.

Your dreams should be bigger than any obstacle standing in your way. If your dreams are not bigger than your obstacles – you need new dreams.

Think Big!

Your dreams and goals need to be bigger than your obstacles.

External Obstacles

These obstacles are ones that we can’t do anything about such as:

  • Economy
  • Natural disasters
  • Physical limitations
  • Environment
  • Lack of Access
  • Political climate

The good news about external obstacles is this, your competitors are facing them too. External obstacles affect everyone. External obstacles are “no excuse” for not fulfilling your destiny.

Can external obstacles create challenging situations, sure! However, saying they are the cause of failure doesn’t “hold water.” People are successful regardless of external obstacles (and you should be too).

Internal obstacles

These are things that you have complete control over. Some examples of internal obstacles are:

  • Education
  • Skills
  • Talent
  • Debt
  • Cash Flow
  • Time Management

Overcoming these obstacles are our responsibility.

  • We can educate ourselves by reading books, taking classes etc.
  • We can become talented (see our post on the 10,000 Hour Rule)
  • We can get out of debt
  • There is nothing about an internal obstacle that we don’t have complete control over.

What does it take to overcome an internal obstacle?

  • Discipline
  • Determination
  • Motivation
  • Consequence (what will happen if I don’t overcome this situation?)

Leaving “no stone unturned” is the best “line of attack” when it comes to internal obstacle solutions.

The old saying goes: “You can only do what you can do, and all you can do is enough.”

If you know with certainty that you have done all you can do to solve an internal obstacle, then that is all you can do.

If your problem (or internal obstacle) hasn’t been solved, then you haven’t done “everything you possibly could have” yet. If you have truly done everything you could possibly do, you would have solved your problem. The only thing stopping you from resolving and internal obstacle are the words, “I can’t.”

Internal obstacles can be overcome. The only thing standing in your way, is you.

Your world is as big as you make it, and so are your obstacles. If your dream is bigger than your obstacle …..the obstacle doesn’t stand a chance!

How big are your dreams?
